Clinician (MD/DO) and Patient Care Observations
If you are looking to observe a Physician/Clinician or other patient care roles, you will follow a different process. You will find an employee in the role of interest to observe them in practice. Please have the Physician review the Education Visitors Observer Program before proceeding.

Discover Mayo Clinic High School interns in grades 11-12 can engage with healthcare professionals at Mayo Clinic over a period of six to twelve months to learn more about career opportunities and feel inspired to pursue their career goals.

Mayo Clinic High School Health Care Career Festival
The annual Health Care Career Festival offers high school students in 11th and 12th grades enrolled in participating southeastern Minnesota schools the opportunity to explore a wide range of exciting career opportunities in a festive, engaging atmosphere. It's a fun day of learning, sharing, and hands-on experience that provides career awareness education, information on career fields, and opportunities to use patient care equipment.

Discover Mayo Clinic provides students in the 10th–12th grades interested in health-related careers with the opportunity to engage with professionals in a hands-on and engaging atmosphere. Topics and careers have included: Histology, Surgical Skills, Emergency Medicine, Nuclear Medicine, Sports Medicine, and Casting.
Application Process
Open to students regardless of physical location. Availability for in-person attendance will be limited. However, students can select to participate virtually if they cannot attend in-person. Registration information will be sent to schools at least four weeks prior to the start of Discover Mayo Clinic. Should you have any questions, please email Career Exploration.
This event is typically held on Monday nights in October and November for seven weeks.

Viewers get to see professionals in the field, see what a typical day is like, and learn about what it takes to become a professional in that field. These videos are intended for high school students but are useful for those who may wish to change or confirm careers. These 25-minute videos are free to anyone who wants to view them. The Mayo Clinic CARES Program, hosted by the Education Office of Belonging, is an exciting pathway program for Arizona high school students with a competitive selection process. The mission of the program is to expose students to the wide spectrum of healthcare careers by providing engaging learning experiences and opportunities to meet Mayo Clinic professionals, establish connections, and discover new possibilities for their personal and professional journeys. The program strives to foster learning about personal strengths, develop professionalism skills, promote wellness, and ultimately inspire students to become a future leader in the healthcare workforce.

The Medical Experience Program at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire provides medical experiences to high school and college students considering careers as a nurse practitioner, physician or physician assistant. During the program, students job shadow professionals in various specialties in a clinical setting.
