Responsibilities
The Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL invites applicants to apply for a faculty position in our clinical medical physics division. The successful applicant will have the ability to drive innovation and clinical implementation in all areas of Nuclear Medicine physics while overseeing safety, quality, and accreditation processes. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with patients, radiologists, colleagues in medical physics, and a range of other healthcare professionals are essential. This position will provide direct support and leadership for projects, including specification of software and hardware for new equipment, periodic evaluation of imaging system performance, development of advanced clinical applications and procedures, study design, integration and performance optimization of clinical and research protocols. Teaching duties may include residents (radiology and medical physics) as well as allied health staff such as technologists and nursing. Experience with radionuclide dosimetry is strongly desired. Clinical research and development, including conference presentations, journal publications, and external grant funding are encouraged.
The successful applicant will join a rapidly expanding Medical Physics group of 5 PhD physicists and 7 physicist assistants. The position will have the opportunity to work with a range of advanced nuclear radiology instrumentation including 5 PET scanners (GE: Signa PETMR, DMI, Omni PETCT; Siemens: Quadra, Vision 600), 5 SPECT / CT (GE: 860, 870 CZT, Star guide (soon); Siemens Pro.specta), DSPECT and MBI. Furthermore, opportunities for close collaboration with physicists at other Mayo sites and researchers in preclinical small animal labs are available.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a PhD from an accredited graduate program in Medical Physics or equivalent and must be board-eligible or board-certified in the specialty of nuclear medicine to meet the State of Florida medical physics license requirements to practice nuclear medicine physics.
