Responsibilities
Manages the technical operation of one or more of the hospital/clinic laboratory sub-departments. May perform and reports laboratory testing based on their licensed specialty, testing competencies and needs of the department. Responsible for the Technical Supervisor duties in the laboratory as outlined in the Federal Register in meeting Federal, state and accrediting agency standards.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related field required. Minimum of five years of experience as a Medical Technologist or equivalent, based on specialty.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
Must be able to tolerate standing for more than 50% of the workday. Must have adequate use of both hands and be able to work with arms above shoulder level. Must be able to distinguish color. Must be able to operate clinical instrumentation and be able to handle use of a microscope. Must demonstrate ability to work independently. Must be able to work directly with patients, some work with immunosuppressed patients. Must be able to tolerate exposure to blood borne pathogens. Must be able to tolerate exposure to chemical vapors such as acids, bases, and alcohol. Must be able to work around machinery with moving parts. Must be able to work with Bar Code Scanners. Must be able to tolerate skin contact with cleanser, 10% bleach, and chemical reagents. Occasionally, must be able to lift more than 25 pounds. Occasionally, must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, or squat. Occasionally, must be able to work irregular hours (rotating shifts) evening and/or night hours.
License or Certification:
Must possess MT (ASCP) Certification or equivalent. Florida State Clinical Technologist License in the area supervised required. State of Florida Laboratory Supervisor's License required.
