Responsibilities

The Radiation oncology clinical intake coordinator (ROCIC) works collaboratively with the Department of Radiation Oncology staff to promote best practice amongst providers and the clinical intake of proton patients. Duties include: educational and monitoring activities for providers focusing on documentation integrity, support of the electronic medical record, support of the clinical intake database (CRM) and maintenance of metrics for reporting purposes to internal and external entities. The ROCIC will work with secretarial support and physicians to develop and maintain a phone triage system and clinical intake database (CRM) for the department to accept external and internal proton patient referrals. The ROCIC functions in the role of educator, facilitator, change agent, and researcher, using a collaborative practice framework to promote best practices in Radiation Oncology intake processes. This individual has the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's specific needs and eligibility for proton therapy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited health care related program of study (e.g. RN, radiation therapist, social worker, etc.). Minimum 5 years’ recent healthcare clinical/bedside (inpatient or outpatient) experience.

Oncology experience preferred. Possesses demonstrated interpersonal and critical thinking skills. Possesses verbal and written communication skills. Possesses organizational skills. Ability to adapt to change in a positive and influential manner. Ability to be self-directed and goal oriented (within a team setting). Demonstrates a working knowledge of hospital resources and insurance coverage. Demonstrates computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated knowledge of electronic medical records and electronic databases. Mayo Clinic Bronze Quality Certification preferred, or required to obtain within 120 days of hire.Current Arizona RN license preferred. Maintain clinical licensure/credentials as applicable to discipline. Basic Life Support Certification is preferred. If RN, prefer OCN certification or obtain within 2 years of hire.
