Director, Staff Scheduling Technology
Lead the technology that powers how Mayo Clinic’s workforce is scheduled
Build the future of workforce scheduling
At Mayo Clinic, scheduling technology is more than an operational tool—it is essential to ensuring the right people are available in the right place at the right time to support exceptional patient care. As Director, Staff Scheduling Technology within the Office of Administrative Systems Transformation (OAST), you will shape the enterprise strategy, platforms, services, and teams that enable scheduling across one of the world’s leading healthcare organizations.
This is a rare opportunity to lead at the intersection of healthcare operations, workforce strategy, and enterprise technology. With significant responsibility for UKG and integrated technologies, you will modernize the scheduling experience, simplify complex work, strengthen platform reliability, and use automation, analytics, and innovation to deliver measurable value for staff, leaders, and the patients they serve.
Your leadership will influence how work is designed, how teams are supported, and how Mayo Clinic prepares its workforce for the future, at enterprise scale.
What you will own and shape
Enterprise strategy and platform leadership
- Define and execute a bold enterprise roadmap for scheduling technology that improves access, flexibility, efficiency, and the workforce experience.
- Shape investment priorities by connecting workforce strategy, operational needs, enterprise architecture, and the broader Administrative Systems strategy.
- Establish clear measures of success for platform performance, reliability, adoption, customer experience, and business value.
- Anticipate emerging needs and turn them into scalable capabilities that position Mayo Clinic for the future.
Product and platform excellence
- Provide executive leadership for the UKG-centered scheduling technology ecosystem and its integrations.
- Make high-impact platform decisions that balance operational continuity, regulatory requirements, customer priorities, technical sustainability, innovation, and enterprise standardization.
- Lead the full product lifecycle—from discovery and design through configuration, testing, release readiness, adoption, and optimization.
- Expand what is possible by evaluating native platform capabilities and complementary technologies when enterprise needs extend beyond current functionality.
Customer and operational partnership
- Serve as a trusted enterprise partner to clinical practice, Nursing, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Research, Education and other functions.
- Champion the experience of frontline staff, supervisors, schedulers, and operational leaders by bringing their needs into strategy and design.
- Create meaningful channels for customer input, prioritization, solution design, testing, implementation, and feedback.
- Translate complex operational requirements into intuitive, scalable solutions that reduce administrative burden and give time back to staff and leaders.
Innovation and workforce transformation
- Reimagine and simplify scheduling processes rather than merely automating the way work is done today.
- Advance the responsible use of AI, automation, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve decisions and experiences.
- Build an innovation pipeline that moves promising ideas from discovery to implementation, measurement, and enterprise scale.
- Create a modern, intuitive scheduling experience while protecting the integrity of enterprise workforce systems.
Operational excellence and reliability
- Build a high-performing operating model that delivers dependable, responsive, and continuously improving scheduling technology.
- Strengthen design, configuration, testing, release and change management, incident response, and continuous improvement practices.
- Use performance measures and customer insights to identify risks, uncover opportunities, and demonstrate value.
- Protect the broader ecosystem by assessing platform changes for upstream and downstream impacts across connected workforce and administrative processes.
Vendor and strategic partner leadership
- Build strong executive relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners.
- Hold partners accountable for product performance, service, innovation, contractual commitments, and roadmap delivery.
- Represent Mayo Clinic’s enterprise requirements and influence vendor product direction.
- Evaluate emerging technologies against strategic, operational, technical, and financial requirements.
People and culture
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary team spanning workforce operations, technology, product management, business analysis, configuration, testing, implementation, and customer engagement.
- Attract, develop, coach, and retain exceptional talent while building the capabilities needed for the future.
- Create an environment where roles, decision rights, accountability, performance expectations, and development opportunities are clear.
- Inspire a culture of collaboration, curiosity, innovation, service, accountability, and continuous improvement.
You may be the right leader if...
You are energized by complex, mission-critical challenges and the opportunity to build something better. You combine enterprise vision with operational discipline, technical credibility, and a deep commitment to the people who use the technology every day. You can engage executives, understand frontline realities, challenge conventional thinking, and turn ambitious ideas into sustainable results.
- Strategic: You create a compelling vision and convert it into disciplined action.
- Technically credible: You ask incisive questions, evaluate tradeoffs, and make sound platform decisions.
- Operationally grounded: You understand how scheduling affects staff, leaders, workforce operations, and patient care.
- Customer obsessed: You design around the real needs of frontline staff and operational leaders.
- Transformational: You challenge assumptions, redesign work, and apply emerging technology with purpose.
- Collaborative and accountable: You build alignment, enable teams, and deliver measurable outcomes.
Bring your vision. Build what’s next.
If you are ready to lead enterprise-scale transformation, shape a critical workforce capability, and improve how thousands of people experience their work, we invite you to bring your vision and expertise to Mayo Clinic. Here, your leadership can help teams work more effectively—and support the people who deliver exceptional care every day.
During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question - Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
