Responsibilities
Provides coordination for divisional LIS to ensure efficient and timely provision of quality laboratory services as defined by the assigned work unit. This may range from coordinating projects to coordinating laboratory information technical specialist (LIS TS I/II) schedules, and training of new LIS TS. This roles entails:
1) maintaining complete and accurate documentation of data and/or work processes
2) assessing work flow processes to ensure efficient and quality testing services
3) organizing and coordinating work-teams and process evaluations
4) presenting data findings and recommendations to laboratory, divisional, and departmental leadership
5) addressing customer questions and concerns regarding laboratory testing issues/processes (when applicable)
6) supporting the development and implementation of new tests, test changes and laboratory work flow processes in the laboratory information system and other clinical systems
7) serving as a work flow process leader, including training of LIS TS and work team members.
8) Serving on the Divisional Report Team to help prioritize and support the divisional report request queue. Completes other projects or assignments as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, a biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable. Six years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology and four years of relevant laboratory experience. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. \
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with operations and/or troubleshooting of laboratory processes and assay/database/spreadsheet applications.
- Experience with file build in the laboratory information system, IM test implementation process, and/or electronic applications in use across the division.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and management experience.
- Excellent human relation skills. Flexible, efficient, possess good organizational skills and respond positively to change.
- Self-motivation, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently.
- The laboratory information system technical specialist coordinator will participate in, and frequently lead, the discussion of ongoing projects with other members of the assigned teams, and is expected to identify future areas of potential development.
- Knowledgeable of the concepts of continuous quality improvement and quality assurance. Ongoing education, training, and certification may be required to meet prevailing regulatory requirements.
