Responsibilities
The Manager – Data Operations – Business Intelligence and Reporting Focus manages the operational functions and day-to-day business activities within the Operations business team focused on enterprise reporting and data logistics in the Department of Business Development (BD) (previously known as Mayo Clinic Ventures (MCV) and Corporate Development). May provide supervision, training and delegation of duties to Operations staff. Manages the intellectual proprietary (IP) database and software systems and their tactical use. Manages staff, completes performance reviews, overcomes conflicts and is an effective team builder. The incumbent assists the BD Operations Leadership with database planning activities, optimizing database functionality and enhancing database utility for internal BD users and external departmental staff and innovators. Initiates and facilitates activities to establish and enhance operational activities, financial analysis, license agreement entry and distribution, billing, payment distribution and other departmental activities and processes. Is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of programs and tools for reporting operational and financial data, including the management of agreement, patent and disclosure information; royalty sharing policies; royalty sharing distributions; statistical performance data; and takes a lead role in operational policy and practice implementation and management. The Manager – Data Operations – Business Intelligence and Reporting Focus also supports research, analysis and benchmarking to ensure reasonableness and accuracy of information, along with identifying and implementing best practices and improvements. The Manager – Data Operations – Business Intelligence and Reporting Focus may also provide assistance to specific divisions/departments on selected institutional initiatives.
This role will have a key focus in Business Intelligence related to BD activities and a broad spectrum of reporting obligations and communications. Advanced experience with reporting tools, including Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics, 4D (4th Dimension), etc. strongly preferred as will serve as key contact and coordinator for producing reports and graphics based on BD content in support of leadership goals, new business development and decision making.
This position is a hybrid of remote work and onsite expectations in an incredibly fast-paced business professional setting. Must live within daily driving distance of the Rochester, MN campus.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a business emphasis, and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in health care, finance, accounting, business, or systems is required. Personnel management experience and working in a Technology Transfer/Commercialization or Venture Management setting is strongly preferred. Possessing an understanding of the licensing process, negotiating and patenting is strongly preferred. Requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, independent decision making, continuous improvement, customer service skills, problem solving and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong human relations, communications and organizational skills are needed to interact with a variety of personnel, both within (e.g. Med Rel) and outside the institution (e.g. NIH). Demonstrated experience with financial functions, policy management, relational database structure, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Word required. Experience with MCV proprietary intellectual property management database preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a team setting required.
