Responsibilities
This Position includes management and supervision of the Project Managers and Construction Managers assigned to the respective practice area and management of selected processes affecting all Mayo current and future Property and Facilities. Supporting the Practice with all space and facilities needs. Provides leadership, vision, direction and strategic planning for a large work unit that typically exceeds 800 contract construction and contract design staff along with dozens of Mayo Facilities Project Managers, Program Mangers and Construction Managers. This position would be assigned one or more of the processes including Project Accounting Support, Project/Construction Management Software, Training/Education, Work Load Management, Contractor Statistics, Uniform Standards of Practice, etc. The position may be rotated to the Section Head of other practice areas within Facilities Project Services from time to time and will work cooperatively with other Section Heads of Facilities Project Services in the rotation of Project Managers and Construction Managers and management of the assigned processes affecting all of Facilities Project Services. This position can also serve as an Senior Facilities Project Manager, managing the more complex Facilities Projects within Mayo Clinic Rochester and Mayo Health System. Must be able to manage and organize a large work load for timely completion of projects through the programming, approval, design, construction, occupancy, and project close out phases. Collaborates with a diverse group of departments within Clinical, Research, Education, and Administrative areas.
Qualifications
A minimum of a BS Degree in engineering, business, healthcare management, or related field of study is required. Master degree in engineering, architecture or business is preferred. A desirable candidate would have eight years of project management experience in addition to five years of Mayo/Facilities Project Service project management experience. Must have extensive organization and planning skills. Must have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to handle a wide variety of tasks simultaneously and efficiently. Requires good decision-making and judgement capabilities, with excellent attention to detail and follow through. Must be able to define, prioritize and achieve realistic, specific goals and objectives with leadership skills of planning and vision. Must be adaptable/flexible in a changing environment. Must be able to work with a wide range of personalities. Must be able to work independently as well as work in a team environment. Must have strong team building skills. Requires presentation skills to present projects to large and small groups and committees.
Advanced education beyond a BS degree, such as an MS, MA or MBA, or second BS/BA degree in related fields of engineering, architecture, and health related fields is preferred.
Registered Professional Engineer, Architect, possession of Project Management Professional (PMP or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification or comparable nationally recognized certification preferred.
