Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic is seeking a dedicated and passionate social worker. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in patient care within our patient-centered environment, conducting diagnostic assessments, developing clinical interventions, facilitating crisis intervention and psychotherapy, and educating patients and their families. You will also serve as a multidisciplinary team member, providing resources to other allied and administrative staff within the Social Work section and the Department of Nursing.
In this role, you will work with outpatients diagnosed with and receiving treatment for hematological conditions, including chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. Patients may be newly diagnosed or at various stages of treatment. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with providers, nurses, pharmacists, and patient navigators. Your expertise will be vital in supporting patients and families through their medical journey.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must possess a Master of Social Work degree (MSW) and be licensed by the Minnesota Board of Social Work (MN BOSW).
Additional Qualifications
- LICSW is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of categories of mental illness, personality development, knowledge of the types of psychiatric treatment, and skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy.
- Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnoses and chronic disease.
- Strong interpersonal skills are needed to interact with patients, patients' family members, consultants, residents, hospital staff, community agencies, and other resources.
- Must also have psychosocial diagnostic skills.
License/Certification
Licensure at the Licensed Graduate Social Work (LGSW), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), provisional LGSW, or provisional LICSW level from the Minnesota Board of Social Work (MN BOSW) is required. LGSW/LISW-level social workers, following 4,000 hours of clinically supervised practice, are eligible to apply for LICSW licensure and must attain it within 8,000 hours. A condition of employment at the LGSW/LISW level requires clinical practice under a MN BOSW-approved Clinical Supervision Plan, leading to LICSW attainment within 8,000 hours of employment (post LGSW or LISW licensure).
