Neurologist / Neuro-Ophthalmologist

Responsibilities

The Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking a Neurologist and Neuro-Ophthalmologist to join our integrated multispecialty practice.  The department includes more than 50 board-certified neurologists and advanced practice providers who offer highly skilled, state-of-the art neurological care for patients with serious and complex neurological disorders. 

We intend that the successful candidate will initially allocate approximately 40-50% of their clinical effort to the neuro-ophthalmology practice; this may increase over time depending on clinical demand.  The remaining clinical effort can be allocated to another needed subspecialty for which the candidate is qualified or other outpatient or inpatient general or subspecialty neurology services.  There is flexibility with this hybrid allocation depending on an individual’s training, experience, and clinical and academic interests.

Candidates must have experience and demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis and management of diverse, complex neurologic and neuro-ophthalmologic disorders.  Candidates must have evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines because the neuro-ophthalmology and neurology practices are highly connected with those of Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, and other departments in our integrated care team model.  Our faculty are expected to engage in scholarly work in research and/or education and protected time commensurate with prior experience is available.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an M.D. or equivalent, be board-certified/board-eligible in Neurology by the ABPN, and be fellowship trained in neuro-ophthalmology. Fellowship training in an additional neurological subspecialty (e.g., stroke, multiple sclerosis, etc.) is not required but may be advantageous.
