Nurse Residency Program

Mayo Clinic’s Nurse Residency Program is designed to support and empower new graduate nurses as they transition from nursing school to professional practice. Through connections with fellow new RNs, a strong foundation in critical thinking, and a supportive network of mentors, preceptors, and colleagues, residents gain the confidence and skills needed for success. The program provides a safe space to navigate real-world challenges, including ethical dilemmas and legal considerations, while fostering professional reflection and growth. With access to state-of-the-art simulations and ongoing encouragement from nursing leaders, residents build their expertise in an open, collaborative environment—preparing them for a lifelong, fulfilling career in nursing.

The Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency Program is designed for every nurse with less than 12 months of experience, providing a structured transition into professional practice. Completed within your first year, the program fosters both educational growth and personal development, ensuring you feel confident and supported every step of the way.

Mayo Clinic offers a robust Nurse Residency Program across multiple locations, providing new graduate nurses with the support and training needed to transition into professional practice with confidence. Our Arizona and Rochester, Minnesota programs are accredited with distinction as Practice Transition Programs® (PTAP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), recognizing our commitment to excellence in nursing education. The Mayo Clinic Health System also provides a comprehensive Nurse Residency Program, offering first-year nurses valuable transition support. Across all locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida and Arizona, residents benefit from mentorship, hands-on training, and a strong professional network, ensuring a solid foundation for lifelong career growth in an innovative, supportive environment.
