Responsibilities
We are seeking an engaged and collaborative Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our outpatient Gastrointestinal (GI) and Genitourinary (GU) Oncology practice.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside four seasoned APP colleagues as part of an experienced multidisciplinary oncology team. The APP will support the comprehensive outpatient needs of patients with GI and GU malignancies throughout the cancer care continuum.
A key feature of this opportunity is scheduling flexibility, with potential for 8- or 10-hour workdays, allowing the schedule to be structured around both patient access, continuity of care, and equitable team coverage.
The APP will provide comprehensive outpatient oncology care for patients with GI and GU malignancies, including:
- Conduct new and established patient visits in collaboration with the oncology team
- Perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide longitudinal cancer care
- Evaluate and manage symptoms and treatment-related toxicities
- Support patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other systemic treatments
- Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing within scope of practice
- Coordinate care across specialties and services
- Provide patient and family education regarding disease, treatment, symptom management, and supportive care
- Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians, APPs, nursing, pharmacy, and other members of the cancer care team
- Contribute to quality improvement, education, and continued development of the GI/GU oncology practice
During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
